Foothills (Hook End Manor)
I recorded this at Alvin Lee’s studio in Hook End Manor in about 1973. I went there was a visitor a few times after I supported Ten Years After on tour in 1972 and he was a great host
I don’t know how I came to be putting some tracks down there, it was after ‘Pigmy’ and before Manticore signed me to their label to make ‘Brighter Day’ so I think Alvin and some very talented musician friends were helping me to put a few sample tracks together to try and get another album deal
The musicians on it were Ian Wallace on drums (back left in the photo), Mel Collins on Sax (arm and hand visible on left) and possibly Neil Hubbard (back centre) and Alan Spencer on guitar and bass though I can’t swear to this. Peter Sinfield is on the right but he wasn’t on this session, this photo was taken while we were recording Brighter Day a year later
The original 2inch tape is long gone but I found this digitised stereo master while I was having a clear-out
Remastered using Logic’s new AI bus, I hope you enjoy it

Recorded back in 2012 and originally released as a bonus track on ‘Live at the Pump’, I found this track to be semi-unfinished and with some new toys I had a go at fully repairing and restoring it

Recorded live at the New Adelphi Cub in Hull on Wednesday 24th September, this is a 14-track live collection that includes 3 new slide guitar tracks
This can be downloaded as a full digital album for £10 or any individual track for £1.50
